Located 42 km south-west of Sydney CBD, Macquarie Fields is part of the local government area of Campbelltown and is in the Macarthur region. Established in 1880, it grew steadily after WWII with efforts to integrate public housing in the 1970s. Private housing developments emerged in later years, triggering population growth and the establishment of a large town centre.
