Located 42 km south-west of Sydney CBD, Macquarie Fields is part of the local government area of Campbelltown and is in the Macarthur region. Established in 1880, it grew steadily after WWII with efforts to integrate public housing in the 1970s. Private housing developments emerged in later years, triggering population growth and the establishment of a large town centre.
Today Macquarie Fields is a green, leafy suburb surrounded by bushland. It offers plenty of amenities and facilities including schools, shopping, recreational centres, parks and nature reserves. There is also a small white sand beach in the area with a bushwalk track.
This quiet suburb is a mix of young families, and both professional and retired individuals. It is especially ideal for families with children as it has good schools, leisure facilities and sporting grounds. It is well connected by buses and trains with a station that connects to the airport.
