Lurnea, located 35 km south-west of the Sydney CBD, is part of the local government of the city of Liverpool.

British settlers first arrived in the area in the 1800s. After World War I, it was turned into a soldier settlement where soldiers could own enough land for a house and a tiny farm. In the 1970s, a redevelopment followed that transformed the area into a residential suburb. Today, it is an established residential area.

It is a very good place to live, affordable and close to everything. It is recommended for families and professionals. It is home to three schools: Lurnea High School, Lurnea Public School and St. Francis Xavier Primary School.

For groceries and other basic necessities, there is Lurnea Supermarket on Lurnea Plaza Hill Rd. More shopping options are available in nearby suburbs like Casula and Liverpool, which is only nine minutes via Hoxton Park Rd.

Hoxton Park Road, which stretches along the northern border of Lurnea, provides access to Liverpool and other areas on the west of the suburb. Lurnea is centrally located as M5 South Western Motorway and Westlink M7 are just minutes away. Liverpool is just 2 minutes away, and you can reach the city in 40 minutes. Five Busabout bus services pass through Lurnea and an additional three services along Hoxton Park Road.
