Hinchinbrook, located 39 km south-west of the Sydney CBD, is part of the local government area of the city of Liverpool. It is bordered in the north by Green Valley, Stradbroke Avenue, Claremont Crescent, Wilson Road and South Liverpool Road, in the east by Banks Road, in the south by Hoxton Park Road, and in the west by Cowpasture Road, Westlink (M7) and Hinchinbrook Creek.

Hinchinbrook was established only in 1986, making it a relatively new residential suburb. However, early settlement dates back from the early 1800s when the area was primarily used as orchards, vineyards and dairy farms. Major development occurred in the 1980s and continued onto the 1990s.

The area where the suburb is located was previously the southern section of Green Valley and the northern section of Hoxton Park. Its name was derived from Hinchinbrook Creek which runs through the suburb.

The suburb’s main attraction to both investors and homebuyers-owners is its affordable new family homes. With the rise in population, new housing developments followed. New facilities were constructed to serve the area, such as the M7 Motorway.

A variety of local shops cater to the suburb’s population. For larger shopping experience, locals can head to the nearby Valley Plaza Shopping Centre in Green Valley, which features a Woolworths.

Young families will find this suburb ideal as it is home to a number of good schools: Hoxton Park High School, Hinchinbrook Public School, Good Samaritan Catholic College and James Busby High School. There are also several good child care centres to choose from: Club Kindy Long Day Care Centre, Angel’s Paradise Pre-school and Long Day Care Centre, and more.

Hinchinbrook has a good neighbourhood and community spirit that you would want your children to be raised in. For professionals working in the city, the suburb is far from the rush of city life but still enough to have easy access to everything.

Transit Systems provides a Liverpool to Parramatta service with 33 stations in each direction, including Hinchinbrook. The nearest train station is in Liverpool.
