Chipping Norton, located 27 km south-west of the Sydney CBD, is part of the local government area of the city of Liverpool and is in the Greater Western Sydney region.

Chipping Norton began as a land grant to Thomas Moore, a master boat builder. This started the settlement in the area in the early 1800s, the first in the city of Liverpool. There was little growth until the 1880s but it continued in the early 1900s when farms were established as part of the Returned Soldier Settlement Scheme. Rapid growth took place after the war.

Today Chipping Norton is an established residential area, with a thriving commercial and industrial sector that provides plenty of local employment opportunities.

It is considered one of the most affluent suburbs in south-western Sydney, as shown by the many beautiful and generous-sized homes overlooking the many parks in Chipping Norton.

One of the many well-known features in the suburb is the Chipping Norton Lake, which is part of the Georges River system. It is a recreational park with walkways, bikeways, playground, BBQ facilities, and a community hall that can be hired to hold special celebrations. Birdwatchers will enjoy sightings of over 50 kinds of birds around the lake. More parks, recreational areas and/or reserves surround Chipping Norton Lake.

This suburb is recommended for families with children and retirees, as well as professionals and singles because it is a quiet and safe neighbourhood. It is also very close to amenities.

There are four schools in Chipping Norton: Newbridge Heights Public School, Chipping Norton Public School, Moorebank High School and St Joseph’s Catholic School. It also has several child care centres: Your Kids Our Kids Child Care Centre, Chipping Norton Montessori Early Learning Centre and Bright Start For Kids Early Learning Centre.

The main shopping destination for locals is the Market Plaza Chipping Norton, anchored by a Coles supermarket and offering a wide variety of specialty shops.

The closest train station is Warwick Farm, and there are daily bus services from Liverpool to Chipping Norton and vice versa by Transdev NSW. If you are driving to the city, you can use the M5 Motorway.
